How do I move from photography into film making? 7 years in photography but I'm ready for a jump

Worked in photography for 7 years, I'm 32 years old and considering moving into film making. I've had a recent urge to take a leap but I live in Manchester and I don't know anyone in the film industry, I hardly know anyone else in photography. I don't know where to start apart from making short film, I've done a couple which I've really enjoyed and I'm proud of. They aren't amazing by any means. I would love to get any advice on how I move forward, or connect with anyone who is in film and based in the Manchester area.
